Quotezone’s latest Car Insurance Price Index puts the average UK comprehensive premium at £619 for the second quarter of 2026. For brands and publishers, the figures also demonstrate what becomes possible when insurance comparison runs on a platform with live market data, established Insurance Provider relationships and millions of annual quote journeys.
How much did car insurance cost in Q2 2026?
The average UK comprehensive car insurance premium rose to £619 in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Quotezone Car Insurance Price Index.
That represents an increase of 6.8%, or around £39, from the Q1 average of £579.52. It was the first quarterly increase following the sustained fall from the index’s Q4 2023 peak of £885.21.
The latest index is based on a random sample of more than 100,000 UK car insurance policies quoted through Quotezone between March 2025 and June 2026. It tracks comprehensive premiums by region, age group and renewal month and is refreshed quarterly. The movement was not limited to one part of the UK. Every region recorded a quarterly rise, although the average amount varied considerably. The Q2 regional figures ranged from £480 in South West England to £833 in London.
Drivers could save by comparing quotes
Separate Quotezone quote data shows that 51% of consumers could save £535.17 on their car insurance. The figure is calculated by comparing the cheapest quote returned with the average of the next four cheapest quotes returned by Insurance Providers on Seopa’s comparison platform. It is based on representative cost savings from May 2026.
The amount an individual customer could save depends on their circumstances and how they selected their existing Insurance Provider. It should not be treated as a guaranteed saving. What the figure demonstrates is the range that can exist within one set of comparison results. Even when the overall market moves in one direction, the prices returned to an individual customer can still vary across the panel.
Quotezone provides a live view of the comparison market
Quotezone launched in 2005 and is one of Seopa’s two owned comparison brands, alongside CompareNI.
The brand began with car insurance and has since expanded across more than 60 insurance and financial products. Its quote journeys generate the data used in the Quotezone Car Insurance Price Index, providing Seopa with unique data to continuously improve the product.
The index does not tell Insurance Providers what they should charge or provide pricing recommendations. It reports what is happening across quotes generated through Quotezone, giving consumers, partners and the wider market a clearer view of how average prices are changing.
Partners can launch on the same Seopa platform
The technology behind Quotezone is also available to Seopa’s partners. The Seopa platform processes nine million quotes and serves four million UK customers each year. It has 300+ insurance and finance provider relationships and covers 60+ insurance, utilities and financial products. Mail Finance, PistonHeads and Totally Money are among the brands running comparison journeys on the platform.
This means a partner launches on the same underlying platform used to operate Quotezone and CompareNI at scale. For a brand or publisher with an existing audience, there are two main ways to use that platform.
Launch a white label / co-branded comparison journey
The white label / co-branded route gives the partner a branded comparison journey that reflects its identity across the customer experience.
The journey can live as a partner branded experience, while Seopa provides the platform and is clearly identified as the comparison provider. Seopa handles the panel, quote logic, Insurance Provider connections and data behind the journey.
This allows the partner to add insurance comparison as part of its own customer proposition and earn commission when a visitor purchases through the comparison journey.
Refer customers through the affiliate scheme
A partner places a tracked link or banner on the pages its audience already visits. The customer follows that link to Quotezone or CompareNI, where the comparison journey takes place.
The partner earns commission on the referred quotes and leads that convert, without having to add a branded comparison journey to its own site.
Why market data matters to a potential comparison partner
The value of the Quotezone index is that it demonstrates the volume of live activity running through the platform. Each quarterly release is drawn from real quote journeys. The same underlying platform connects partner audiences with Insurance Providers across personal lines, specialist insurance, utilities and financial products.
For a prospective partner, that provides evidence of three things:
- The comparison technology is already operating at scale.
- The platform has active Insurance Provider relationships and live quote models.
- Seopa operates its own consumer brands on the same technology it makes available to partners.
The commercial opportunity does not depend on premiums always rising or always falling. It comes from giving an existing audience access to a regulated comparison journey when they are ready to compare.
Launch insurance comparison on the platform behind Quotezone
Seopa gives brands, publishers and Insurance Providers three routes onto one regulated comparison platform. Launch a branded white label / co-branded journey, earn commission by referring an existing audience through the affiliate scheme, or put your insurance products in front of in-market shoppers by joining the panel.
